Can I Use Component Output From Upconvert Dvd Player To My Tv To Get Near Hd Signal ?

My 20 inch LCD (HD ready) TV does not have HDMI connection. Can I get same near HD quality from component input instead of HDMI ?

    componet cables can carry hi-def picture, but nearly all upconvert players are coded to only do the upconversion thru an hdmi cable. research any model before you buy it because it most likely will not work.

    component cables are hi def but they only carry picture you will also need rca jacks for the sound.
