I saw the Emerson EWL3706 at WalMart and wondered if it was any good. HAven’t seen anything with reviews on it though.

Ignore recommendations of buying an off-brand LCD. The better the brand > the better the quality > the longer the lifespan. Don’t go cheap.
As opposed to getting such a large screen, consider getting something a bit smaller. And note that TVs always look bigger in your room than they do in the store. Also note that you don’t want to sit too close to the screen as you’ll lose picture quality.
Here’s a guide for choosing size:
20 – 27 inch screen needs 2.5 – 5 feet.
32 – 37 inch screen needs 6 – 8 feet.
42 – 46 inch screen needs 10 – 14 feet.
Also, if you’re already spending the money to invest in an LCD, go ahead and invest in an HDTV. Don’t be deceived by EDTV or HD-Ready. Getting a smaller sized HD LCD in a good brand will save you money in the long run and will also provide you with better quality audio and picture.
Hi,
I shop a lot and I always use cheapest prices search engine for all they offer. Almost every regular store and online merchants is listed there, lots of consumer reviews and a lot of other ways to save time and money.
I hope I helped you and good luck to you.
p.s. check out the consumer written reviews, they should really help you!
